Professor Kim Dan Nguyen is the Executive Director of the GIS HEDD (Groupement d’Intérêt Scientifique “Hydraulique pour l’Environnement et Développement Durable”), which is composed of 34 members of national institutes such as CNRS, IFREMER, BRGM, CEREMA, IFSTTAR, IRSTEA, INRSN, and university laboratories of the INSA of Lyon, of the Ecole Centrale de Marseilles, of the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, INP Grenoble, INP Toulouse, INSA of Lyon, Universities of Caen, of Haves, of Pau, of Poitiers, etc. and the private consulting Companies such as ARTELIA, ISL, ACRI. The GIS HEDD has been created since 2010 under the support of the Ministry of Ecology and of the Ministry of Research to strengthen and to extend French research in environmental hydraulics, to bring a scientific support to public policies, and to give a visibility to French Hydraulics research at the international level.
Professor Kim Dan NGUYEN was awarded the PhD by the University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris) in 1988. From 1989 to 1993, he was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Lille I and became a full professor in September 1993 at the University of Caen-Normandy.
