The Knight of the Legion of Honour

Professor Le Kim Ngoc is a world-renowned biologist.  

 

Prof. Le Kim Ngoc has authored numerous influential research works in the field of botany. She was the first person in the world to introduce the concept of "Thin Cell Layer," leading to a revolutionary development in plant biotechnology. Another groundbreaking work by her involves the exploration of the laws governing the flowering process in plants. 

 

Together with her husband, Professor Tran Thanh Van, she contributed to the establishment of SOS Children's Villages in Da Lat, Dong Hoi, and the Thuy Xuan Child Protection Center in Hue. 

 

In recognition of her tireless contributions to science and orphaned children in Vietnam, in 2016, the President of the French Republic, François Hollande, conferred upon Professor Le Kim Ngoc the Knight of the Legion of Honour. She was also awarded the Friendship Medal by the Government of Vietnam in 2015.
